Frequently Asked Questions

What is unique about Cellupulse?

Acoustic wave treatment (cellupulse) is truly unique because it treats the primary cause of cellulite (the hardened connective tissue), which ultimately improves not only the circulation to the tissue, but also improves the lymphatic drainage, reducing the accumulated fluid within the tissue. This allows for long lasting results. Cellupulse also increases the collagen in the dermal layer, allowing for a more youthful appearance and tone. Clinical trials demonstrate 110% improvement in skin elasticity.

Additional positive effects on the tissue include:

  • Fat-splitting phospholipases on the fat cell membrane are activated, decreasing some of thecontent of the fat cells in the superficial fat layer.
  • Increase in collagen fibrils in the dermal layer (increase in dermal thickness and elasticity).

What appearance changes can I expect from Cellupulse treatment?

  1. Skin tightening. Better skin structure and contour (clinical trials show 110% improvement in skin elasticity).
  2. Smoother appearance. The dimpled cellulite areas will become more smooth as the connective tissue support is stimulated and collagen formation is activated.
  3. Body slimming and improved tone. Stimulation of lipolysis, increased blood flow and improved lymphatic drainage leads to reduced circumference of treated area and a more tone appearance

Are there any side effects from Cellupulse cellulite treatment?

Acoustic wave technology has been used in medicine for over 20 years (in many other areas of the body) and has been proven to have a high level of safety. It is a noninvasive procedure (there is no incision) and there is no heat generated.

The only side effect or complaint of patients and test subjects is some small discomfort during the procedure that immediately subsides after treatment.

Some individuals will feel more comfortable if they take 1 or 2 tylenol approximately 20 minutes prior to the session. Advil, ibuprofen, aleve and aspirin are not recommended during your treatment period as this may lead to temporary bruising at the treatment site.

What is the cost of Cellupulse cellulite treatment?

The cost will depend on the treatment site and number of sessions. Cost also varies depending on what state you are in. Typical cost is anywhere from $200-300 per session per treatment site, but various packages are available that will ultimately cost approx $1800 total for the first treatment site and $1200 for the second treatment site.

How many treatment sessions are required with Cellupulse?

For the best results, 6-8 treatment sessions should be completed. This will vary depending on the individual and the treatment site. Typically this is accomplished over one month or approximately twice per week.

How long does a Cellupulse treatment session take?

Again this will vary depending on the area being treated. Some women will want both the front of the thigh and the back of the thigh plus the buttocks treated all in one session, which takes slightly longer than individuals who are treating a smaller surface area such as the upper arms. Typically sessions will take 20 minutes or less- this includes prep time and clean up time (It is necessary to apply a gel to the treated area so that the waves can transfer from the device through the body).

When can I expect to see results Cellupulse?

Typically individuals will begin to notice improvement about midway through treatment (after the 3rd or 4th treatment). Appearance of skin improvement will continue with the additional treatments. Here is an important fact that has been noted in the studies- The appearance will continue to improve over the next 3 months after all the treatment sessions have been completed.

Is Cellupulse treatment permanent?

The treatment is very promising and long lasting, but few things in the human body are truly permanent. Our tissue is dynamic and is unfortunately always changing and aging. The current recommendation is to have a “touch-up” session to maintain your new appearance approximately once every 6-12 months. This means only 1 or 2 treatment sessions once or twice a year (not the full 6-8 treatment sessions again).

The most beneficial habits to have in order to preserve the desired appearance include staying well hydrated, regular exercise and maintaining close to normal body weight.
